Wooden Needle Point

 This is my favorite and super easy DIY wall creation.
All you will need is these four things:

1. Hammer
2. String
3. Pretty Nails (I chose gold ones but make sure the head of the nail has a ledge so the string doesn't fall off)
4. A piece of wood (make sure it is nail-able) 

Here are steps I followed:

1. You can follow a stencil if it is a more difficult design but I like to free hand it.
2. Nail in the shape of the design you want and for an even more secure hold dip the nail in super glue and then nail it in the wood.
3. Take the string a tie it to the top nail and work your way around the nails (I really should do a video on the various ways you can string it around the nails)
4. Make sure to tie the final loop tight and finish with a hook for the back.

Random Small Projects

These are a few small projects that I quickly did and I don't have before pictures.

This chair was found in deep mold and was pretty grimy. I deep cleaned it and spray painted it and stained the inner wood and gave a deep brown wash over the spray paint.

This is a very simple DIY that I completely with a few wooden letters. I did an ombre color pattern and super glued some ribbon on the back to hold the letters together. 

I did this piece one the wall with a couple of thumb tacks and string. I had no money to fill this space in so I made a simple arrow with string!

Wooden Arrow DIY

So I wanted to create a wooden arrow for my living room but really couldn't afford what I was really envisioning. I wanted to make it out of metal but that I found would be trickier than expected. So I basically took a piece of wood I had already painted and added the tip and the feather to it.

Here are the steps I followed:

1. Bought a wide piece of wood from Lowes, on the thinner side so the weight of it wouldn't be too much to hang. Then I cut a triangle out of it.
2. Then I bought two long pieces of wood for the tail of the arrow and cut it down into six pieces.
3. I stained all of them and lastly glued them on and placed a hook on the back to hang it up.

Sister DIY - Stardust Mirror

SAN DIEGO! While in San Diego visiting my sister I wanted to do a DIY with her. Her home is so beautiful we wanted to create something for her walls. So we spent the whole day gathering supplies to create a similar mirror I did on the blog a while back: Paint Stick Mirror. You can refer back to this project for the details. It was such an amazing time to sit and talk with my sister while doing something I love! She is so special to my heart and an amazing woman it was one of the favorite DIY's.

Here are the steps we followed:

1. Since we didn't have any free paint sticks we bought: Shins from Lowes  (We needed two for this project. Each costing about 4.50 a package.)
2. Since we also didn't have any wood stain we used brown acrylic paint we bought for a dollar. Using a wet damp cloth and dipping it in brown paint and applying like a stain.
3. We placed them all around before we glued them on the circular frame.
4. Then we glued in the mirror.
5. Then we put a backing on it to hang.

$5.00 Mirror Makeover

I have always had a full length mirror in my bedroom that I purchased at Walmart for $5.00 but I never liked keeping it out. So I decided to make it over so I could peremantley display it in the bedroom.

Here are the steps I followed:

1. Take apart the frame and the backing of the mirror. Purchase 3 boards of wood two wider in size and one smaller in size. Stain the pieces of wood.

2. Frame out the mirror and cut the pieces of wood accordingly. I used a hand saw.

3. First I used wood glue to adhere them together and then for added support I stapled the wood together and it ended being a fun accent as well. As you can tell the wood is on the thinner side because I knew I wanted to hang it.

4. I then hammered down the staples on the other side.

5. Then I white washed the boards adding pops of color. My tip for this is to use a cheap dollar store brush and as always a damp cloth.

 6. Used heavy duty wood glue and glued the mirror to the back of the wood. Let it dry.

 7. Bought thick rope at Home Depot for $8.00 for 50 ft.

 8. Drilled a hole at the top of the mirror on both sides and strung the rope through and knotted both ends.

Paint Stick Mirror

I have wanted to get to this project done for a while now. I had a bag full of paint sticks that I have been accumulating here and there. My advice is to ask every time your at a home improvement store or else you will have to pay for the paint sticks yourself. I finally had enough to do a mirror.

Here are the steps I followed:

1. Stain all of your paint sticks.

2. Buy a wooden circle for displaying floral arrangements. I bought this one at Micheal's for $2.00 with a coupon!

3. Hot glue the sticks around the ring over lapping them along the way.

4. Once you are done it will look like this.

5. I darkened the creases with dark brown paint and white washed the top paint sticks.

6. Bought a round mirror at Micheal's for $3.00 with a coupon. Hot glued the mirror to the back of the wooden ring. I also attached a mount to hang it up.

DIY Rope Frames

My mom gave me these frames that she did some art work on that she didn't want anymore. You can check out her latest art work at www.rebecaroman.com. They are basically square pieces of wood with a mount on the back. I decided to change them up and use them as frames above our bed. I had left over rope from other projects and just used that to frame out the pictures I picked out.

Easy DIY Earring Display

This project is so easy to do and such a fun way to hang up all those earrings big and small. I have to say that the wire I used is a little bigger so I ended up putting my stud earrings in a bowl but I feel it makes it easier to access them.

Here are the steps I followed:

1. Painted a frame and then gave it a white wash. 
2. I purchased some wire at Home Depot that had holes small enough to put the earrings through.
3. Cut the wire down to size. Investing in a heavy duty stapler is a good tool to have! Once you have the wire cut, staple the wire to the inside groove.  

DIY Neckalce Holder

This is my first project for my bedroom makeover. I have so many necklaces that are pretty chunky and wanted to make something to display them in a fun way. I had a left over board and some knobs from my China Cabinet Makeover.

Here are the steps I followed:

1. Got some boards at Home Depot for about $3.00 a piece.
2. Stained them a dark brown and then white washed them. (Take a damp cloth and dab it in white paint)

 3. Once dry place a mount on the back of piece of wood.

 4. All I did was used a good amount of glue from a hot glue gun and mounted on the knobs.

DIY Arrow Art

Getting Ready to finally put up a few pictures of the new living room. I  needed to create art to fill some dead space and love how it turned out. I really like all the different Pinterest arrows all created in so many ways. I personally wanted to do a string arrow mainly because I need some power tools to to other versions.

Here are the steps I followed:

1. I went to Home Depot to purchase some pieces of wood for about $3.00 a board.
2. Stained them with a dark brown color.
3. Went over the board with white paint to give it a drift wood look. (Take a damp cloth and dip it in white paint)

 4. Used these nails I picked up at Home Depot.

 5. I used these mounts to hang the pieces of wood.

6. Then I nailed them into the board in an arrow shape and strung the blue string around the nails.
